Pre-School Graduation and Water Day

I realize I am a week behind...but better late than never!!! So here we go with catching up, instead of doing chores like I should be, cause both girls are asleep.
Ansley's pre-school graduation was last Thursday evening. It felt weird being there, because we are still not sure if she is going to Kindergarten in the fall or another year of pre-school. Her birthday is not until October so we would have to have her tested. I don't want to start her just because of her size. She towers over most of her friends but I don't think that would be an issue for her if we wait another year. She already knows a lot of what they will learn in Kindergarten, but I am thinking we shouldn't push her to grow up too fast. ???? Any suggestions from experience or not?
She was a little stubborn during the program and wouldn't sing. WHAT THE HECK??? She had fallen asleep on the way there but she had time to wake up and be in a good mood. I wanted to ring her neck! I still love her though!
Friday morning was Water Day at Mrs. Linda's. Some of the Mom's brought their slide for the kids to play on. They had tons of fun!!! and a little too much sun!

Her favorite part of the evening. A mouth FULL of frosting!!!

Okay...it is totally up to you what you want your daughter to do...major pros and cons to each side. But, just so you know...Riley's b-day is way late in Sep and she'll be entering 2nd grade this fall--she'll be 7 on her b-day. Riley is eager to please and excited to learn. Although even her teacher expressed concerns about her being the youngest kid in just about the whole 1st grade this year, Riley is an outstanding student receiving an Academic Achievement award each quarter this year. It's all about the individual child. If she's ready, don't hold her back. If she's not all that enthusiastic about school...maybe she should wait. If you want to hear more of Melissa on her soapbox...you know my email. Good luck. Please let me know what you all decide.

Hi Dianna. Stumbled on your blog through Claire's. Loved the pictures of graduation. Katherine was a stinker at Preschool graduation, too. Ah, well.
I know where you're coming from on the Kindergarten thing. Our oldest's birthday is almost he last day of September and we had this dilemma, too. He, however, was UNBELIEVABLY ready for Kindergarten. We were lucky because it was pretty obvious with him. He was only 4 when he started but it was the right time for him. Katherine, though, wouldn't have been ready at that same age. It really depends on the kid.
And, even though he is doing great and keeping up, he does have some issues because of his age. He is less mature and his social skills aren't as good. That's something we deal with.
Again, it just depends on the kid. I have an older brother with a late birthday and he waited a year to start school and it was PERFECT for him.
There you go, another mom on her soapbox.
